Where it goes
Garment liners
Panels in compression wear, base layers and underwear, where odor builds next to the skin. Cloth is thin enough to sit inside the garment.
Sports pad liners
Removable patches for hockey, football and lacrosse pads, die-cut to the pad and held by a pocket or an adhesive back.
Footwear inserts
Insoles and shoe liners cut to your last, from cloth or laminated felt.
Bags and storage
Gym bags, skate bags, shoe bags and closet pouches that hold damp gear between uses.
Three constructions
Pick by what the part has to survive: flexing, rubbing and washing. Tell us that first and we will narrow it down.
Activated carbon fiber cloth
The fiber itself is carbon: we spin, carbonize and steam-activate it, so this is not carbon powder glued onto fabric. Thin, with low air resistance. Plain or twill weave.
ACF felt with support layers
Thicker, for parts that need more carbon. Felt on its own has low strength, so we laminate a support layer on the top and bottom. No adhesive is added to the felt itself.
Coated carbon cloth
20–50 g/m² of activated carbon coated onto a base fabric. The sturdiest of the three.
Cross-section · ACF felt with support layers
- Support layer: nonwoven or fabric
- Activated carbon fiber: cloth or felt, no adhesive in it
- Support layer: protects the carbon
- Adhesive backing: on request
Schematic, not to scale. Construction is confirmed per project against your wash and wear requirements.
What we confirm per project
We do not publish wash-durability or gas-specific test results for apparel use, because they depend on the construction and how the carbon layer is enclosed. Send your wash requirement and the odors you are targeting, and we confirm what fits before we cut samples.
Frequently asked questions
Short answers for apparel and gear brands.
Can activated carbon cloth be used in clothing to control odor?
Yes. Activated carbon fiber cloth is a textile made of activated carbon fibers, thin and with low air resistance, and it is already used in chemical protective clothing. In everyday apparel it goes in as a liner or panel rather than as the outer fabric.
What is the difference between activated carbon cloth and carbon-coated fabric?
In activated carbon cloth the fiber itself is carbon. Carbon-coated fabric is an ordinary base cloth with 20–50 g/m² of activated carbon coated onto its surface: sturdier, with the carbon sitting on the surface instead of making up the fiber.
Can you make removable odor patches for sports pads?
Yes. We die-cut cloth or laminated felt to your drawing, and can add an adhesive backing. Send the pad or a sketch of where the patch sits.
Is activated carbon fabric washable?
It depends on the construction and how the carbon layer is enclosed, so we confirm it against your wash requirement before sampling rather than quoting one answer for every product.
What is the minimum order?
30 units made to your specification. One free sample per buyer; shipping is not included.
Send the garment, the pad or a sketch
Tell us where the carbon sits, how thin it has to be and how it gets washed. We come back with a construction and matching samples.
